Web booking pages

Our BOOKIT standard web booking pages have been built via our own standard BOOKIT API. However, we have found that the majority of our customers prefer to have their own web-developers design and build their own unique booking pages via the BOOKIT API.

This allows for the pages to have the same look and feel as their own website, and means they can choose exactly the layout and style of the pages, and as well as the steps, and the information shown (remaining places, discounted seats, fully booked sailings etc) Not only can passenger booking pages be built against the API, so can accommodation, agent and freight booking pages. All the booking functionality found in house has API calls covering travel, onboard and land-based services.

Self-Service ticketing and check-in

A number of our customers have self-service ticketing machines and airport-style check-in booths. We can see this becoming more and more popular in terminals where the infrastructure allows it. Passengers are used to self-service while travelling by plane or on public transport, so this kind of automation is familiar and user friendly.

Destination Gotland, Eckerö Linjen and Colonia Express have self-service check-in kiosks; and Wagenborg Passagiersdiensten and Ornötrafiken both have self-service ticketing machines.

Passenger gates

Destination Gotland, Eckerö Linjen and Colonia Express have self-service check-in kiosks; and Wagenborg Passagiersdiensten and Ornötrafiken both have self-service ticketing machines.

Passenger gates are another familiar part of travelling. Wagenborg Passagiersdiensten use their passenger gates to create and check-in in a booking in one step – customers use their travel cards to ‘touch and go’. Destination Gotland use their passenger gates to embark pre-checked-in passengers in the same fashion as at an airport. Passengers check-in on-line and receive their boarding card to their mobile device, or they can check-in at a self-service kiosk in the terminal. They then use the ‘boarding card’ or QR code on their mobile device to pass through the gates.

3rd party booking software

BOOKIT has also been used to integrate with other 3rd party booking software. In the case of Eckerö Linjen and Destination Gotland, BOOKIT was integrated with software from the Visit Group designed specifically to book accommodation and land-based services such as zoos, theme parks, museums etc.

Booking channels

There are a number of booking portals and 3rd party booking integration systems that BOOKIT customers use. For example: AFerry, Pharos, Direct ferries and Ferry gateway. BOOKIT’s open inter- faces make integrations such as these relatively simple.
